Nerd Alert
There was a bunch of lab supplies being given away *still not sure why* in the stockroom at work. Everybody was told to go down and get supplies at 3pm. Our boss told us to go down before then, so we *my labmate and I* headed that way about 5 minutes early. Well, getting on the elevator with our cart was an experience. There was already a bunch of labs headed that way with their carts in tow. When we got on the elevator it was just us, but right before the doors closed another lab came with their cart. So we closed the elevator door in their faces held the elevator door open so they could ride down with us. Even though we were technically early, we were like the last ones there... It was like black Friday downstairs. People were running from the tables and grabbing stuff till their hands were full and running back to put it on their carts. It was kind of intense, yet exciting! I just started grabbing things, so that we could actually get some stuff before the crowds took everything. Some things that I had no idea what they were but what the heck they're free, so why not! Overall, I think it was a pretty successful adventure.
This our cart loaded up full of FREEEEEE supplies!

My favorite find of the day. *Thanks to my labmate*

The Great Date Experience
I am thinking the hubs and I might try "the Great Date Experience." Its a series of 6 dates.
Date #1 Nuture Romance
Date #2 Cultivate Communication
Date #3 Hurry Home
Date #4 A World of Difference
Date #5 Trust Me
Date #6 Finish Together
Check out their website here.
Date #1 Nuture Romance

Date #4 A World of Difference

The way it works is you each receive a set of instructions for the evening. Most of the dates also come with "topics" or "questions" to talk about during the date. The hubs and I often find it difficult in our hectic schedules to plan dates. This way it's mostly planned.... even down to the conversation. All we have to do is read the instructions! I am thinking that we may have to try a date each month or so and see how it goes.
They also have 4 more dates that they designed in 2010, so I'm excited!

Cleaning Schedule
The majority of our house is either wood or tile flooring (excluding our bedrooms). Although I love the look of it, it is starting to get very difficult to keep clean. Between Bella and Raja, who are starting to shed more and more due to the change in weather, I feel like I spend the majority of my weekend cleaning floors and dusting. Also, I moved from a VERY small apartment which I shared with 2 other VERY clean girls to a 3bed/2bath house with the hubs (who is very clean... for a guy) and 2 animals. Not only did the amount of cleaning space grow, but the number of people/pets/things I am cleaning for also grew.
I love love love my house clean. It makes me not only feel accomplished when the house is clean, but I also am convinced I sleep better knowing my house is clean. So alas, I have decided to do a cleaning schedule. I've seen cleaning schedules on a few blogs and had the time today - plus, I am in an organizing mood - so I've decided to make one. I'm thinking that the hubs is not going to be overly excited to see his name on the list... so we'll see how this goes tonight :)
So far the list of to do items are :
Laudry
Grocery List
Grocery Shop
File papers / bills
Mirrors
Toilets
Bathroom counters
Tubs/Shower
Kitchen surfaces
Dust
Vacuum carpers
Vacuum hardwood / tile
Mop hardwood / tile
Kitty Litter
Bella Bath
Deep clean kitchen / dining room
Deep clean bathrooms
Deep clean bedrooms
Deep clean living room / laundry room
Yardwork / Porches / Garage
I have somewhat organized who is to do the task. The hubs and I have have talked about some of these things but not all. Currently, some of the things on the list we split (like kitty litter because I am a fanatic about having it cleaned - like at least 2 times a week, so we switch back and forth), some things we do together (grocery shopping & Bella's bath), and some things just I do (dusting, laudry, grocery list, etc) or he does (yardwork, tubs/showers, etc).
I have also come up with a schematic for the frequency of cleaning. I have the list organized by either:
twice a week
once a week
once every other week
once a month
Of course, there are some items under "deep cleaning" that can really be quarterly. I have a rough list of deep cleaning for each room like baseboards or cabinets. I do need to go through each of the rooms when I get home to make sure I didn't miss anything.
I'm going to show this to the hubs tonight - the month of April will be our trial month of this new cleaning schedule.

Bella update 4/6/11
Bella - my adorable almost-9-month-old puppy recently got a brand new toy from the pet store. *just as a side note, Bella goes through toys like crazy. We restrict her on only 1 new toy a month because she chews them up so fast. Currently, she is not allowed to have any more rope toys or stuffed toys. Strings and stuffing just end up all over the house. Plus, she can chew threw them in like a few hours - we need toys that will last at least a week or so.* Back to the story, Bella had been playing with her new toy. She is a little rough with it, she bites it, chews on it, tosses it up in the air, throws it on the floor, tackles it - its pretty adorable. The kitty - Raja - was laying on the couch watching her so Bella came over and sat down in front of her and placed the toy on the couch. She then took her noise and nudged it over to Raja like "Here you can play with it too!" I thought it was the sweetest thing in the world. Raja, of course, being the snotty cat that she is was like "Why the crap are giving this to me?" and just ignored her.
I hug a pillow when I sleep. Alot of nights I wake up with the pillow on the floor - most likely Reub tosses it during the night. I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed my pillow was on the floor, so I went to grab it and I saw that Bella was using it. She had her body laying under our bed like she usually does, but her head was on the pillow next to the bed. It was so adorable. I, of course, could not disturb such cuteness, so I let her sleep the rest of the night like that.
Reuben and I recently raked/cleaned out our yard. It took FOREVER. Like seriously, over 12 hours. We have a lot of pine straw in our yard, so it was a lot of HARD raking.
We got so tired out that I actually made myself sick from the work. While we were raking and cleaning, Bella would sabatage our progress by taking sticks and whatever else she could find out of our leaf piles. She almost seemed offened that we were taking away her toys. We think she's cute so we didn't yell too much.

LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF BAGS....

It took 36 of the 50 gallon heavy duty bags to fill our yard. And we didn't even rake on one side of our house... WOWOWOW!
It was storming a few nights ago really bad. Raining and thunder and lightening. This caused a lot of debris in our back yard. Bella's favorite chew toys are sticks and pine cones. After the storm there were "toys" AKA "sticks" all over our back yard. I took her out to go to the bathroom and it was like a kid on Christmas morning. She would run to one stick put it in her mouth then she'd see another stick run to that one, drop the other stick out of her mouth, put the new stick in her mouth. She did that like 10 times. Then she found this special stick that was like a small tree branch - it still had leaves on it. She was really excited about that one. Needless to say that one didn't last very long, I think by the time I had drank my morning coffee she had chewed it to pieces.
